A residency with Stryx Gallery in Digbeth Birmingham

The first of STRYX mid career artists Alex Billingham will be exhibiting LODESTONE, an open studio event for September Digbeth First Friday 2026. This marks the start of her residency period which will culminate in October with a solo show Singularity.

Join her in the temporary residency space of Stryx. Pulling together the first year of Wayfinder: a 5-year project exploring memory / Hagstones and the gravitational pull of black holes. This will be part artist studio, part work in progress – a glimpse into Alex’s working methods, and another tantalising chapter in the Hot Plate residency! 

I’m using LODESTONE both as a point to bring together the existing research following development time with BOARC / Summerhall arts and Hospitalfields both also as a means of exploring where the project is heading next.

With support on this years cohort of Syllabus I’m using the development time to refine and deeper understand the research with a public exhibition in June 2027.
